The Defense Museum Boden and Rödbergsfortet narrate the military historical background of Boden's fortress, placing Boden and the forts (especially Rödbergsfortet) in an international, national, and regional perspective. Here, exhibition and program activities, exhibition production, conference activities, and café and museum shop operations are conducted. The Defense Museum Boden also showcases several temporary exhibitions each year. Since 2022, Boden's art hall has been housed in the Defense Museum Boden, primarily displaying local and regional art.

The Defense Museum Boden, Rödbergsfortet, and Boden's art hall are part of the library and museum unit.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a museum technician, you will be part of a team with a curator, educator, conservator, and museum host. Together, you are responsible for executing the exhibition productions of the Defense Museum Boden and Boden's art hall.

In consultation with the exhibition manager, and often with the artists themselves, you will install and light artworks and objects, install AV technology, and prepare the exhibition room for each new exhibition, from carpentry to painting.

Exhibition production is an important part of the museums' operations as knowledge disseminators and visitor destinations. The Defense Museum produces its own exhibitions, as well as smaller pop-up exhibitions and events. As the museum's technician, you have significant responsibility for your processes, both in planning and production. The assignment includes daily maintenance of exhibitions and premises, event preparations, support for work in the museums' collections, and collaborations with external parties.

You will be responsible for receiving transports and unpacking and packing borrowed exhibitions and artworks. As a museum technician, you will contribute to developing good and sustainable solutions related to logistics, maintenance, and technology in the museum environment.

Occasional work in the museum's reception is included, as well as weekend work approximately 4 times a year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge in carpentry and lighting is desirable. It is also positive if you have a background in or experience working with art, culture, museum operations, or building preservation.

We want our new colleague to be task-oriented and organized, outgoing and proactive, and able to build good relationships and enjoy working with and for the museum's visitors together with colleagues.

You have a strong sense of service and a flexible working style with the ability to prioritize.

You are practically inclined and can handle working at a fast pace at times. The work is very varied but places some specific demands on you as an employee. There are heavy lifts involved, and the work is performed both outdoors and indoors in various types of environments.
